Monday 7/13
in class: begin the Video or Social Media project; look at examples from previous students:
- Single-Use Plastics, Jocelyn Henry;
- Cosmetics Overconsumption, Trinity Samuel;
- Cruise Tourism in Juneau, Shyla Ciampa;
- A Field Guide to Neurotypicals, Ally Choi
social media exercise: scroll through your favorite social media platform(s) for 5 minutes; when you stop at a post or reel or ad, make a note of what made you stop. What strategies do you think were used to make this item compelling for you? After 5 minutes, we’ll share some of the strategies in a class discussion.
video exercise: use Capcut, Canva, or another video editing program to create a 15-30 second video that brings some fun, sunshine, and beauty to this day; try Suno.ai to create your own song for the audio; upload your video to the quick fun video folder in our class Google folder
assignment (due before class on Tuesday 7/14):
- read the resources for the social media or video options on the class Resources page
- write a plan for your Video or Social Media Project and upload it to the video or social media plans folder in our class Google folder; the plan is ungraded and can be brief or detailed, though of course the more detail you include now the easier it will be for you to execute later
Tuesday 7/14
